https://lnkd.in/eiGMU9WzOne of the acid tests that the Qurâan sets for itself is that it is without contradictions and discrepancies: âDo they not consider the Qurâan (with care)? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surelyhave found therein much discrepancy.â (Qurâan 4:82)Therefore, if Muslims call us to Islam, one of their main tasks should be to show us that there are no contradictions in the Qurâan all. This would be a very tall order, to say the least, since there are many statements in the Qurâan that flatly contradict statements in other parts of the book. This is perhaps most evident in its answer to the question: How did Allah create humanity? The Qurâan contains at leastfivecontradictory statements about the materials used in the creation of humans. It should be noted that all these statements are stand-alone and occur in passages ârevealedâ years apart. Claims that we are dealing with some kind of recipe, or process, are therefore quite absurd.According to the Qurâan Allah variously used the following to create human beings:Blood:Proclaim. (or read.) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created Proclaim. (or read.) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created Created man, out ofa (mere) clot of congealed blood. (Qurâan 96:1-2)Water:It is He Who hascreated man from water: Then has He established relationships of lineage and marriage: for thy Lord has power (over all things). (Qurâan 25:54)Clay:We created manfrom sounding clay, from mud molded into shape. (Qurâan 15:26)Dust:Among His Signs is this, that He created youfrom dust; and then, behold, ye are men scattered (far and wide). (Qurâan 30:20)Nothing:âAllah createth what He willeth: When He hath decreed a plan, He but saith to it, âBe, and it is.â (Qurâan 3:47)It should, again, be noted that these verses are widely separated in terms of their place in the Qurâan and their time of origin. There is no indication in any of these verses that they are describing a part of a process. Instead, all of them make stand-alone and contradictory statements about the way in which humanity was created. The standard Muslim answer that this is some kind of ârecipeâ also does not solve the dilemma that Qurâan 3:47 states that Allah created âout of nothingâ.These statements on human creation are obviously deeply contradictory (thus causing the Qurâan to fail the test it sets for itself). They, furthermore, provide evidence of the bringing together of various Pre-Islamic traditions and contradict the Muslim belief of a perfect revelation given to a single prophetic figure. For a thorough examination of the truth-claims of Islam, please see my book âQuestioning Islam - Tough Questions and Honest Answers About the Muslim Religionâ.Kind regards,Peter

https://lnkd.in/e3hJdwJiSomething that is perhaps not well known by non Muslims is that the Qurâan contains many verses that are completely obscure; in other words, we have no idea what they mean. Muslim scholars will, of course, attempt to furnish explanations. These explanations commonly date from more than two hundred years after the verses were ârevealedâ and represent a belated effort to rescue the Qurâan from the charge of obscurity. The credibility of these explanations is further undermined by the fact that there are a wide variety of possible answers given. Many of these are mutually exclusive. In other words, if one is true, the others cannot be.What is the problem with a Qurâan that contains obscure verses? It is simply the fact that it is not supposed to have any. The Qurâan assures us: âIt is we Who hath sent unto you the Book, explained in detailâ (Qurâan 6:114); and: âA Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail; a Qurâan in Arabic, for people who understandâ (Qurâan 41:3). The very presence of these obscure verses powerfully contradicts these confident assertions. Here are some examples of verses in the Qurâan of which the meaning is entirely obscure:Qurâan 74:30 simply reads âOver it are nineteen.â Thatâs it, the entire verse. The wider context is a description of hell. The reader is immediately forced to ask. Nineteen what? Above what? The Qurâan is silent on these questions. No explanation at all is given. This has not prevented generations of Muslim scholars from constructing elaborate mystical explanations of what this text is supposed to mean. The fact is, however, that we do not get any answers at all from the text itself.Qurâan 30:2-5 contains the following statement: âThe Roman Empire has been defeated in a land close by; but they, (even) after (this) defeat of theirs, will soon be victorious Within a few years. With Allah is the Decision, in the past and in the Future: on that Day shall the Believers rejoice in the victory of Allah. He gives victory to whom He wills, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.â Immediately the questions pile up. By whom have the Romans been defeated? Where? When? Why is this piece of information good news to a group of people supposedly living far from the Roman Empire in the middle of the Arabian Desert?Qurâan 111:1-4 passes judgment on Abu-Lahab (Father of the Flame), but who was he, and why does he and his wife receive such severe punishment?Qurâan 113:3 warns against those who âblow on knotsâ (literal translation). Who are these people? Why are they to be feared? It is impossible to answer the questions above without making use of sources outside of the Qurâan or lapsing into endless mystical speculation (as is often done with the verse about the âthe 19â). So much for a clear book in which âeverything is explained in detailâ

AUTHORBismillah.1. It was the 92th birthday of a great thinker, a true scholar and a descendant of the Prophet Ű”ÙÙ Ű§ÙÙÙ ŰčÙÙÙ ÙŰłÙÙ yesterday, Tan Sri Prof. Dr Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas ŰÙŰžÙ Ű§ÙÙÙ, on September the fifth.2. He is the author of the book in this photo that I finally managed to complete my first reading tonight, in conjunction with his birthday.3. I heard Shaykh Hamza Yusuf ŰÙŰžÙ Ű§ÙÙÙ said that an author is called an author because he has an authority or is authoritative in what he writes or authors.4. Again, this is a difficult book. I certainly will read it more times, and more slowly in the future. Perhaps an fb recording that discusses this book by Prof. Dr Zainiy Uthman would help me understand it better.Link below:https://lnkd.in/gWsqbRYb5. In short, in my own summary, this extraordinary book delineates three important things, by deploying Prof. Al-Attas own style of arguments, (1) the nature of man, (2) the mistake of translating islam in the Quran as 'submission' (to promote transcendent unity of religions) and (3) kalimat Allah.6. Many of the things discussed (despite my little understanding) are fresh and new which emphasizes and proves how Prof. Al-Attas is an author in its true sense, and of course an original thinker, the al-Ghazali of our time.WAllahua'lam. May Allah give good health to him, a blessed life and allow the Ummah to benefit from his great works.Amin ya Robbal alamin.

Salaam our youth Lesson # 40Theological and sociological aspects of the Quranic verses Many of the Quranic verses are addressed to humanity have both theological and sociological aspect. And you need to pay attention to this fact. For example when Allah SWT says in the Quran fulfill your promise, theologically means you fulfill your promise to Him upon declaring your faith to Him. When you declare Ùۧ ۧÙÙ Ű§Ùۧ ۧÙÙÙ Ù ŰÙ ŰŻ ۱۳ÙÙ Ű§ÙÙÙThere is no deity but God, Mohammad is the Messenger of God, you promise that you will not worship no one but God and you also accept Mohammad peace be upon him as your Prophet, your leader and your mentor. The declaration of faith is a promise you make to Allah SWT. And this is the theological aspect of the above verse. At the same time, the verse of fulfilling your promise has a sociological application that when you make a promise to someone you must fulfill that promise. The Prophet ( pbuh) said the sign of the hypocrites are the following:When they make a promise they break itWhen they receive an amanat (trust) they will not return it and when they speak, they lie. This is the sociological aspect of the mentioned verse. Another example is when sometimes people are hesitant about their faith. They canât decide whether they should believe in Allah SWT or not. They are not sure about the existence of Allah SWT. They canât perceive that God exists. The Quran calls these people Ù Ù ŰȘ۱ÙÙmeaning they are not sure or hesitant about their belief. At the same time this verse has sociological application. People are not able to make a sound decision about their affairs. For example a woman or a man canât truly decide about the man she loves or the woman he loves. They are in the state of Ù Ù ŰȘ۱ÙÙ or hesitant Being hesitant about the existence of Allah SWT, according to Islamic believe system will close many doors of felicity while believing in Him will open many doors of happiness and prosperity. By the same token, Being hesitant about your daily affairs and not trust Allah SWT will also put you in the state of confusion but if you decide about an issue and then trust Allah SWT, He Will take care of you and you will have a peace of mind Farid YounosJune 17, 2023

Tawhid, meaning âonenessâ or âunification,â is the foundational principle of Islam. It represents the absolute belief in theonenessof God, Allah. This single concept forms the bedrock of the Islamic faith, influencing every aspect of Muslim belief and practice. The Core ofTawhid:Uniqueness of Allah:Tawhid asserts that Allah is the sole creator and sustainer of the universe. There are no other gods or deities worthy of worship, and Allah has no partners or equals.Divine Attributes:Muslims believe Allah possesses unique and perfect attributes, such as being Omnipotent (all-powerful),Omniscient (all-knowing),and Merciful. These attributes are seen as expressions of Allahâs oneness and perfection.Indivisibility of Faith:Tawhidis not merely a theoretical concept; itâs a living faith that permeates every aspect of a Muslimâs life.It demands complete and unwavering devotion to Allah, excluding any form of idolatry or polytheism.Expressions ofTawhid:Shahada:The declaration of faith,âLa ilaha illallah,Muhammadun rasul Allahâ (There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah),is the first pillar of Islam and a constant reminder ofTawhid.Salat:The five daily prayers serve as a physical expression ofTawhid, aligning oneself with the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca and submitting to Allah in complete humility.Quran:The Quran, believed to be the direct word of Allah, emphasizes Tawhid throughout its verses. It serves as a constant source of guidance and reminder of Allahâs oneness.Rejection of Shirk:Shirk, meaning association of anything with Allah,is considered the greatest sin in Islam.Muslims strive to purify their hearts and actions from any form of Shirk, upholding the absolute oneness of God.Significance of Tawhid:Tawhidprovides a sense of purpose and direction in life. It fosters a deep connection with Allah, instilling gratitude, humility, and dependence on the Divine. It also promotes social justice and equality, as all people are seen as creations of the One God, deserving of respect and dignity.Tawhidis not merely a static concept; itâs a dynamic journey of continuous self-purification and striving towards a deeper understanding of Allahâs oneness. Itâs a lifelong commitment that shapes the Muslimâs worldview and guides their actions in this world and the hereafter.Understanding TawhidLearning aboutTawhidcan help foster interfaith dialogue and understanding. It provides a key to comprehending the core beliefs and practices of Islam, promoting mutual respect and appreciation for diverse religious perspectives.#Tawhid #OnenessofGod #Islam #Muslim #Quran #Allah #Faith #Religion #Spirituality #Love
