Not really related to Trek, but unless there's a general thread about robots, I feel it fits well enough here.
Finally depicted a visual gag I imagined long ago.
B9 is XCalPro's model and Robby is James "Tobor" Murphy's.
Sincerely,
Bill

Tom Laird, even though of obvious Scottish descent, was born and raised in Liverpool, England, Earth. The exceptionally brilliant Laird excelled in every subject in school. He decided to pursue a career in medicine. After graduating from medical school and serving his residency, Laird joined Starfleet. Some say he was running away from something, although nothing concrete ever came up as to what he was supposedly running away from.
Laird has served on a number of starships, accruing a number of honors and citations along the way, including the U.S.S. Vancouver, then under the command of Captain Stellan Norstrom. Laird and Norstrom became friends after years of serving together aboard the Vancouver. After the "Centine Incident", Laird accepted a teaching position at Starfleet Academy's School of Medicine.
When Starfleet asked Norstrom back to command the U.S.S. Invictus, the first person Norstrom asked to be on his crew was Laird. Laird accepted and became the Invictus's Chief Medical Officer.
The oft-married (and oft-divorced) Laird is considered to be an excellent doctor with warm, caring bedside manner. His sense of humor (or "humour") and rich, fruity voice also help in dealing with his patients. All this being said, Laird is still considered to be highly eccentric or "weird" as some put it.

Hey, there, gang. I'm back up and running again. (At least for the most part. LOL.)
I finally got my new computer, and got all of my software loaded, as well as some of my content. I wanted to do a test render, to see what I was up against as far as render times, etc was for the new machine, and my muse and I came up with this.
The background and lights was from the Fiery Victoria/Genesis tutorial that comes with Studio. The character is M4 with Mylochka's Orion texture. The hair is Spring Princess from DAZ's store (just an FYI, it comes with a morph for M4 that fits it just as pretty as you please), and the outfit is Notorious for M4, from RuntimeDNA.

I learned a few days ago that a woman I have worked with for years passed away after her second battle with breast cancer. She was only 55 years old. There are many women I know and in my family who have battled breast cancer, this is dedicated to them.
My own lady just recently received her last radiation treatment for her second bout of breast cancer. We have reason to be optimistic, but I will fear a recurrence the rest of my life.
Thank you for this image.

Threlven has had a long career in Starfleet... Despite himself. Sharp, quick, calm under pressure. Everything a captain would want in a tactical officer. Threlven is considered to be one of the best tactical officers in Starfleet. Except for one thing.
Even by Andorian standards, Threlven is considered to be acerbic and saracastic. To the detriment of his career. He has been reprimand numerous times, had promotions denied him, and been considered a bit of a pariah. On the other side, he has received a number of commendations and awards for the performance of his job. Captains were still willing to take a chance on Threlven based on his skills. But, eventually, Threlven's personality wears on his commanding officers.
Threlven has worn out his welcome with at least a dozen starship captains. Of all the captains that Threlven has served under, only one has let Threlven's attitude slide... Captain Stellan Norstrom. Some speculated that it was because Threlven said the things that Norstrom's position wouldn't allow him to say. Others say it's because Threlven amuses Norstrom. Either way, Threlven and Norstrom struck up a friendship during Threlven's time aboard the U.S.S. Vancouver.
After the "Centine Incident", Threlven found himself back on his earlier track. Captains wanted him, captains got to know him, captains wanted to get rid of him.
When Starfleet offered Norstrom the command of the U.S.S. Invictus, Threlven was serving aboard the U.S.S. Quasar under the command of Captain Geoffrey Littlefield. By this time, Littlefield was more than happy to transfer Threlven to the Invictus. After much negotiations with Norstrom, Threlven, along with Lt. T'Prae and assorted miscellaneous goods, was transferred to the Invictus.

............................................I've re-upped the Visor to my DA account.
They appear to now have a special category for 3D fanart items. And this is what I was working on, a chair. Got the base finished nicely I think.
And as the happy owner of Poser Pro 2012, now I can check my work in Poser ... although I was never good with bricks. Maybe one day.wip.png

I just tried D/L the file. It must be an empty runtime as there no pp2 files in it. :long:Post edited by nitehawk_ltd on

Here's an update to the alien character I posted earlier. Comments?

P.S. Also no one indicated interest in my updated Vorta morph. Or did I just overlook any?

It's a mutated human from the Fallout video game universe - large, blue and some have straps very much like the ones on your head.

Interesting. That was a character that has been rolling around in my head for almost 20 years. I had never seen a Nightkin until today when I googled it.

Well, in case it ever does get finished, I have started another bridge. Found a whole bunch of neat coloured reference images for the panels :-)
The panels don't exactly match with the floorplan.
So I've done a little creative adjustment, which going by what I've seen in the show seems to be what they do anyway lol ...
Starting with the weapons station [and yes I know, the desk needs to be slanted] ...
Image shown with temporary templates applied. Trying out some ideas for a workflow.

I'm sorry I didn't comment on the Vorta variation; notifications have been a bit erratic and I've been moreso. So, for the record, I like it.
The blue critter with the straps and disks reminds me a bit of Superman's foe, Brainiac.
I haven't had any time to work on the Tholian Web suit, so, the lack of progress reports accurately reflects the lack of progress.

Verdan Anom was a young child when the Cardassian occupation of Bajor ended, but even so, she still remembered the horrors the Cardassians inflicted upon her people. After the occupation, as Bajor was rebuilding itself, Verdan came to admire the Starfleet personnel who served on Deep Space Nine (formerly the Cardassian ore processing facility Terok Nor) and the starships that helped defend Bajor during the Dominion War. She determined that her destiny was to serve in Starfleet.
After being accepted into Starfleet Academy, Verdan discovered her aptitude in the field of engineering. She graduated in the top 1 percentile of her class and was assigned to the U.S.S. Sovereign. While aboard the Sovereign, she quickly gained a reputation as being brilliant, but, a little too quiet. Some felt that she'd never possess enough self-confidence to tell a higher ranking officer that something couldn't be done, even when it clearly couldn't.
Despite this, Verdan still rose quickly through the ranks. She accepted an assignment as assistant chief engineer aboard the U.S.S. Sterling. While there, she served under the man who would become her mentor, Commander Masahiro Mutoh. Mutoh taught Verdan all she needed to know in how to deal with starship captains and how to get the best out of the crew assigned her. It was also aboard the Sterling that Verdan met the love of her life, Nurse Thea Patrick.
When word came that Starfleet Engineering's Department of Starship Development was looking for an engineer with practical starship experience to help in development of a new project, Mutoh convinced Verdan to go after the assignment. Verdan got the assignment, which turned out to be the development of the U.S.S. Invictus.
After Captain Stellan Norstrom accepted command of the Invictus several month before the actual launch of the ship, he personally supervised the final updates to the ship. During this time, Norstrom quickly became impressed with Verdan's knowledge and offered her the position of chief engineer, which she accepted.
Verdan personally supervised several "adjustments" that Norstrom wanted made before the launch of the Invictus

What, you want it to look like a Starfleet shuttle? :-)
If you want it to stand out from the military ships, give it some nose art. No Trek navy has nose art on their ships...
